My assignment- Photographic auctions in Beijing

Hi guys, finally here is my post! So nice to see your good shots here.

A photo I would like to share here is about the photograph auctions in Beijing, 3, Dec. Photos in markets are very popular in China nowadays. More and more international galleries and art collections are getting into China's art market, which encourages more local artists into the artistic market. Contact agency sold their photographers' portfolio for 90'000RMB, about 11'842USD in this auction.

Woman passed out at the Pashupatinath temple in Nepal.

At the annual Teej festival in Nepal, women fast all day long in honor of the Gods who, in return, will bestow them with a happy marriage. On this day, thousands of women are waiting in long queues outside the temple to offer their prayers. But in the baking sun, and on an empty stomach, it was too much for this young lady, leaving the premises feet first.

I owe to say that five minutes later, I caught up with her in the medic tent and, after beginning a re-hydration, she had regained her senses. Still a bit fuzzy, but basically ok.

THE MEMORY REMAINS

Those two ladys are sisters .. 85 & 95 years old .. The left one is the younger one talking to her older sister who is currently living in an old "nursing home" in Croatia. The first time I got there I was in shock for the next couple of days .. The "nursing home" is more like a "lunetic home" for people who are mentaly ill and are left there to die. The conditions are very sad and bad.

The 95 year old lady was living in New York & Sidney before that lunetic home, where their sons lived and are still living. Her wish was to go back home to Croatia, and she endet up here in that lunetic house because there was nobody who can care for her. Their sons doesn't want to know anything about her, neighter they know where she is now. The very sad thing is that she, with her 95 years of age is very clear in her head and experience this very sad lonely end of her life ..

Her sister tried to put her in an home for old people where she can get proper care, but since the prices in Croatia are very high she can't afford that.

I talked to some people who are mentaly more or less normal in that lunetic house, and their storys are really heartbroken because there are also people that are not that old (some are 30+). Some of that people are left behind, some do have only themselfes in this world and can't take care of themselfes and some are abandoned from their families because they are "different" ..

In some cases I could'nt shoot with my camera, because I just stood there looking at their sad, lonely faces .. The camera is sometimes like a wall, where you think you feel protected and think you can do anything, but in this case it really kicked my ass ..

All those families outthere, spent a lot of quality time with your loved ones because you never know when you can end up like those people I met there in Croatia ..

indonesia tobacco

The massive warehouse is silent except for the sound of tobacco leaves in motion. some of women and men build and dismantle piles of tobacco that have just arrived from the fields located around the city of klaten, in Indonesia's central Java province. The workers are sorting the tobacco leaves by quality, color and texture--an initial classification before fermentations begin. The women sort the tobacco slowly and methodically.

Assignment obout the unique island Cres & Losinj, Croatia.

Assignment about the unique islands of Cres & Losinj, Croatia (still in progress).

Those crazy island are the best I've seen, experienced, felt for my lifetime. They are the biggest islands in Croatia, yet with minimum population. Lots of great untouched nature, 11 (!!?) endemic unique orchids, 5 different types of oaks, lots of deers, mouflons, snakes (no poisons), clearest water you'll ever see in your life, clear air that makes you dream like a child .. And of course the most beautiful untouched beaches where you can run around naked 'cause there is nobody near .. Unbelivible experience !! Uf .. wish to be there right now .. When I got there first time, I saw really what life is all about .. You don't need much to be lucky .. and the time will come, or is here knockin' on our door where you'll have to pay big bucks for that silence I got there .. and belive me, you learn very fast to listen to perfect silence .. :))

Misery At Stung Meanchey

A young girl cries out in pain after receiving a minor injury to her right hand at The Stung Meanchey Landfill in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Over 700 tons of garbage is sifted through by roughly 2000 workers, including 600 children, who work there each day.

The FIRST Torpedo factory in the WORLD in Rijeka, Croatia .. Sad how it looks today. It was unbelivible experience shooting in those buildings and hangars (it is heavily closed for public).

This one is an old machine from the forties .. Most disaponting thing is that all of the old machines are going to old iron !?!And also very disapointing is that the city of Rijeka, Croatia, has no Torpedo museum ..

Croatian Ivan Luppis from Rijeka was the inventor of torpedo .. Whitbread developed the final product .. Anyway .. I think that it would be ok that people can see the worst invention of the human race in an museum in a city where all started ..

I think this may be one of my favorite shots, at least one that I took.

It is from an ongoing photo-story I am shooting documenting Canadian Family Farms, and the challenges they have been working through for several years.
